Boy Attacked by Snake as Photographers Watch

A photograph shows a child apparently being attacked by a snake as cameramen stand by and film without helping the young victim. One version of the photo shows a National Geographic logo. Is this photo real or is it a hoax?

It is a film which dramatized an attack.

The photo is actually a still photo from the Discovery Channel series Nature’s Deadliest which aired in 2008. This specific scene is from episode 4 entitled Africa 2. The scene actually shows a girl – not a boy as many readers assume. The girl is attacked by an African Rock Python and her friend runs to get help. A man comes to assist, fights the snake off of the girl, only to have the snake turn on him. The man is then killed in the attack.

To reiterate, the entire scene is merely a dramatization and did not actually happen. Below are a couple of screen shots taken from the same episode of Nature’s Deadliest.

The show began with a disclaimer that the episode may be disturbing to some viewers.

First, let’s take a look at the photo which has been circulated since around 2010. The photo is often accompanied by angry commentary covering topics such as class and racial warfare. What is perhaps missed in the discussion, aside from the fact that the scene is a work of fiction, is that it shows a white man dying while rescuing the child. It should also be noted that National Geographic had nothing to do with this show, and the logo was apparently superimposed on the graphic later.

The second scene of the film shows a man coming to rescue the girl. He is able to successfully pull the snake off of the girl.

Things then go wrong for the rescuer as the snake then focuses its attack on the man and kills him.

The image showing a child being attacked by a snake while photographers watch is a disturbing scene. The photo, however, is taken out of context and merely shows a scene being filmed. The TV show in question may be available online, as it was available for instant streaming on Netflix as recently as 2013.

Mr. Lee plunged to his death.

This is the horrifying moment a wheelchair-bound man plunged to his death down an elevator shaft after he deliberately rammed the lift door in a fit of anger.

The Korean man just misses a lift in a shopping centre after the woman inside pressed the button to go down.

As the doors closed a split-second before he reached the lift, the man, known only as Mr Lee, slammed his vehicle into them.

Mr Lee fell to his death after missing the lift at a Korean shopping centre

After bashing in to the lift door with his motorised vehicle, the door springs open and he plunges down

The 40-year-old pressed the button to no avail and the elevator left. Mr Lee then reversed his vehicle slightly and drove into the doors again, making a dent.

He reversed back for one more attempt. This time the doors gave way and he plunged to his death.

He is believed to have fallen about 19ft.

The incident, which happened in August, was caught on security cameras in the shopping centre in Daejon, South Korea.

Police said the accident was caused by Mr Lee’s anger at the woman not holding the door for him.

Shopping centre officials have vowed to strengthen the doors of the lifts to ensure the accident is never repeated.

George Daugherty Wow, 104 likes, and all these (mostly) snarky comments, about a man who you just saw DIE -- he plunged to his death. Nobody knows any thing about his mental state, whether he was also mentally disabled. (He was obviously physically disabled.) You are all cold and heartless, and completely lacking in compassion. Pretty horrific to make somebody's death a joke.

The Slender Man (Attempted) murder

On this last Saturday, May 31, 2014, rescue workers take a stabbing victim to the ambulance in Waukesha, Wisconsin USA. Prosecutors say two 12-year-old southeastern Wisconsin girls stabbed their 12-year-old friend nearly to death in the woods to please a mythological creature they learned about online. Both girls were charged as adults with first-degree attempted homicide Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court. According to a criminal complaint, the girls had been planning to kill their friend for months and finally made the attempt in a park on Saturday morning, after a slumber party. 

The mythological creature they learned about online is named "The Slender Man".
