Dead man found by following foul odor in parking lot

DEER PARK, Texas — A man was discovered dead in the driver's seat of his SUV in a Walmart parking lot in this Houston suburb, discovered by a store manager, authorities said.

An initial investigation Sunday night when the body was found has not shown any foul play, Deer Park police investigators said. But officers are treating the silver Dodge Durango as a crime scene, and Harris County's medical examiner was brought in to determine a cause of death.

Walmart customers apparently alerted management to a foul smell coming from the vehicle, employees said.

The name of the man has not been released. Police think the body may have been there for a week.
